Should I Listen to Everything Matt Cutts Says?
That's a very good question, because if you head over to Search Engine Land, Search Engine Roundtable, or another industry resource, and check out the posts related to Matt Cutts' video blog answers, below the line you'll see an array of opions, from those who hang on Cutts' every words to those who frankly say some not very nice things about him!
The reality is that you should listen to what Cutts says. After all, he is the Head of the Webspam team at Google, so what he says does carry an awful lot of weight, and much of the time he will refer directly to the Google Webmaster Guidelines, which we all have to follow if we want our websites to succeed.
However, experienced Cutts and Google watchers will know that he often throws in a curveball or a red herring, perhaps leading you down a path away from what could make your site successful, or leaving his answers open to interpretation.
Overall, Cutts is a good resource, but perhaps not one you should look to for "chapter and verse" on SEO. Most of those who dislike him tend to do so becuase he doesn't give away all the answers, or because they have followed what he says yet have seen no improvement in terms of SEO.
