When it comes to your content strategy, understanding how you can repurpose content effectively will save you a lot of time and enable you to reach out to as big an audience as possible. What are the steps you need to take that will help you do this?
How to Get Content Foundations
The first thing to consider is how you are going to get the foundation of your content together. Are you going to research ideas from across the internet, produce a piece of original content, or come up with a concept and idea yourself?
The idea with repurposing content is that you start with something that can then be used for various different things, so the more information and ideas you have, the better. This approach leads to the production of different types of high quality content, whereas if you simply take one thing and try and turn it into various different things, you will probably struggle. When you are repurposing content correctly, nothing has to change.
Where to Start
For the purposes of this guide we’ll say you have a piece of original research. The first thing you might do is think this is great for a case study, which is the natural outcome of conducting a piece of high quality research. However, when you start to look into it, the possibilities are endless.
For example, say your research consisted of 40 questions. Some of the answers could be put together into an infographic. If the questions offered multiple-choice answers, then all of them could be turned into both a Top 5 post as well as an infographic. You can then combine the questions and answers to compare and contrast, before coming up with a white paper, animations, a video, social media snippets, slideshows, GIFs, and anything else you can think of.
Once you have the foundation and the idea, you can easily create a wealth of content.
Your own on site blogs are a great thing to repurpose, as you can get those that relate to a specific subject and create a white paper or an eBook – if these are in PDF format on your site then you won’t be seen to have duplicate content, while such files will give your SEO a timely boost. You can also break down points you make within these and use them as social media content.
Repurpose your content effectively to save you time and make your site attractive to as many people as possible, and continue to grow your online reputation.
